Designed for industrial and
automotive applications respectively, the ISO1042 and ISO1042-Q1 combine
bus fault protection with common-mode transient immunity.
These transceivers are galvanically isolated devices that offer ±70 VDC bus fault protection along with a ±30 V common-mode voltage range. A silicon dioxide insulation barrier is utilized with withstand voltage specified at 5000 VRMS and working voltage specified at 1060 VRMS. On the bus pins, the HBM ESD tolerance is ±16 kV.
Here's an overview of some of their features.
Basic and reinforced options of both the ISO1042 and ISO1042-Q1 are available in either a 10.3-mm-by-7.5-mm 16-pin DW package or in a 5.8-mm-by-7.5-mm, 8-pin DWV package.
Both units are available with either basic or reinforced isolation options.
Surge test voltage:
- 10,000 VPK for the Reinforced Version
- 6,000 VPK for the Basic Version
Data Speed
- Classic CAN up to 1 Mbps
- FD up to 5 Mbps
- Loop delay of only 152 ns, 215 ns maximum
Immunity and Emissions
For operation in electromagnetically noisy automotive or industrial environments.- Common Mode Transient Immunity (CMTI) of 85 kV/us (minimum)
- ESD protection of +/- 8 kV
Environmental and Operational Considerations
The units operate over a temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.Voltage ranges are as follows:
- VCC1 voltage range is 1.71 V to 5.5 V
- VCC2 voltage range is 4.5 V to 5.5 V

ISO1042: Industrial Applications
The ISO1042 is intended for industrial applications and meets the ISO 11898-2:2016 and ISO 11898-5:2007 physical layer standards. This version of the transceiver is targeted for applications such as:
- AC and servo drives
- Solar Inverters
- PLC and DCS communication modules
- Elevators and escalators
- Industrial power supplies
- Battery charging and management
ISO1042-Q1: Automotive Applications
The ISO1042-Q1, on the other hand, is intended for automotive applications. It meets the AEC Q100 standard for active components and is aimed at:- Starter/generator
- Battery management systems
- DC/DC converters
- Onboard and wireless chargers
- Inverters
- Motor control
Evaluation Modules
Evaluation modules are available for both the ISO1042 its 16-pin SOIC package and its 8-pin versions. They are, respectively, the ISO1042DW and the ISO1042DWV.
