Technology
The
CRJ Series introduced new technologies, new thinking and new
performance standards to regional aviation, and is the world’s most
successful regional jet program. Linking people and communities like no
other, the CRJ Series has revolutionized aviation with its proven
efficiency, reliability and profitability. With a common engine unique
in its segment, advanced avionics in the flight deck, lighter weight and
advanced aerodynamics, every jet in the CRJ Series is designed to
deliver significantly better cost efficiency, excellent airfield
performance and en-route fuel consumption.
Advanced Materials
Flight Years Ahead
The CRJ Series continues to expand its use of advanced materials with use of outboard flaps and allerions made of Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) composites.Benefits of RTM:
- Low weight, high strength
- Freedom from corrosion
- High resistance to fatigue
Proven Engine
One Exceptional Engine
The General Electric CF34-8 engine family has a proven track record, commonality benefits and years of experience in the field to help reduce ownership and operating costs. The CF34-8C5 features a 5:1 bypass ratio and a thrust output of up to 14,510 lbf.
The CRJ Series is the only regional product in the 70-100 seat segment to offer a common engine. The engine can be interchanged between the CRJ Series family members and a single pool of engines can be maintained.
With the benefit of utilizing the same engine across CRJ1000, CRJ900, and CRJ700 in succession, the CF34-8C5 takes flexibility to a new level.
Advanced Flight Deck
Up in Front
The CRJ Series' advanced avionics provide a 6-screen glass cockpit featuring the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 integrated avionics suite. Its robust open architecture delivers reliable performance with growth capability to meet future communication, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management requirements.- CAT IIIa with Head-up Guidance System (HGS)
- Space-Based Augmentation System / Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance (SBAS / LPV)
- Coupled Vertical Navigation (CVNAV)
- Required Navigation Performance 0.3 (RNP 0.3)
- Dual Electronic Flight Bags (EFB)
- Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast out (ADS-B out)
- Link 2000+ Controller Pilot Datalink Communication (CPDLC)
Advanced Aerodynamics
Smooth Moves
The CRJ Series of aircraft has optimized advanced aerodynamics providing the capability and flexibility to accomplish varying mission profiles- Enhanced winglets for improved performance and lower fuel burn
- Low drag profile due to optimized cross-section for lower fuel burn
- Very fast standard cruise speed of Mach 0.78 with the flexibility to reach up to Mach 0.825
- 4th generation aerodynamics enhanced through Computational Fluid Dynamics
