Wananchi watakiwa kuwa nje ya mita 60 kutoka vyanzo vya maji vinavyopeleka Mtera


Naibu Waziri wa Nishati na Madini, Dkt. Medard Kalemani (katikati) akizungumza na wananchi katika kijiji cha Chimwenga wilaya ya Mbeya vijijini ambapo Naibu Waziri aliwaeleza wananchi hao umuhimu wa kukaa mbali na vyanzo vya maji ili kutoviharibu na kusababisha upungufu wa maji unaopelekea bwawa la uzalishaji umeme la Mtera kukauka.

Naibu Waziri wa Nishati na Madini, Dkt. Medard Kalemani (mwenye tai nyekundu) akikagua moja ya miradi mikubwa ya kilimo cha umwagiliaji inayofanyika katika wilaya ya Mbarali mkoa wa Mbeya ambayo hutumia maji kutoka katika mapitio yanayopeleka maji katika bwawa la uzalishaji umeme la Mtera.

Baadhi ya wananchi katika wilaya ya Mbarali mkoani Mbeya wakimwangalia Naibu Waziri wa Nishati na Madini, Dkt. Medard Kalemani (hayupo pichani) wakati akikagua mapitio ya maji yanayoelekea katika bwawa la uzalishaji umeme la Mtera.

Wananchi wanaozunguka vyanzo  vinavyotiririsha maji katika mito inayomwaga maji kwenye bwawa la uzalishaji umeme la Mtera wametakiwa kuhakikisha kuwa hawafanyi shughuli zozote za kiuchumi au ujenzi wa makazi ndani ya eneo la mita 60 kutoka kilipo chanzo cha maji.

Hayo yameelezwa na Naibu Waziri wa Nishati na Madini, Dkt. Medard Kalemani wakati alipofanya ziara ya kukagua vyanzo vya maji katika wilaya ya Mbeya vijijini ambavyo vinachangia upatikani wa maji katika bwawa la Mtera lenye uwezo wa kuzalisha umeme wa kiasi cha megawati 80.

Licha ya kuagiza kwamba eneo hilo la mita 60 lisifanyike shughuli zozote zikiwemo za kilimo na ufugaji, Dkt. Kalemani pia aliiagiza Ofisi ya Mkuu wa wilaya ya Mbeya kufanya tathmin ili kufahamu idadi ya watu wanaoishi ndani ya eneo hilo katika vyanzo vyote vya maji ili kuona uwezekano wa kuwahamisha kwa kufuata utaratibu. 

Vilevile Naibu Waziri aliagiza kuwa vyanzo vyote vya maji viwekewe alama ili kuepusha wananchi kuingilia maeneo hayo na kufanya shughuli zitakazoathiri upatikanaji wa maji katka mabwawa ya uzalishaji umeme.

" Zuio hili ni lazima liende sambamba na suala la Halmashauri zetu kuwa na mipango ya matumizi ya ardhi, bila hivyo hakutakuwa na matumizi endelevu ya maji na matokeo ni kama haya ambapo wananchi wanaamua kufanya shughuli kama za kilimo na ufugaji katika vyanzo vya maji na kusababisha uharibifu," alisema  Dkt. Kalemani.

Dkt. Kalemani pia aliwaagiza watendaji wa Wilaya na Halmashauri zinazozunguka vyanzo hivyo, kutoa elimu kwa wananchi juu ya umuhimu wa matumizi bora ya maji katika vyanzo na mapitio ya maji yanayopeleka maji katika bwawa la mtera ambalo sasa limesimamisha uzalishaji wa umeme kutokana na upungufu wa maji.

Kuhusu suala la wananchi wenye vibali kutumia maji hayo kwa shughuli mbalimbali ikiwemo kilimo, Naibu Waziri alisema kuwa wananchi hao wanapaswa kutumia maji kwa kiwango walichoruhusiwa tu na si vinginevyo na yeyote atakayebainika kuharibu chanzo cha maji atachukuliwa hatua kali za kisheria.

" Wadau mbalimbali wanaosimamia sheria zinazoongoza sekta ya maji ikiwemo Wizara zinazohusika na maji, Kilimo, Mifugo, Nishati  na Madini na Mamlaka za Mabonde, lazima wahakikishe kuwa wanasimamia sheria hizo kikamilifu, kila mtu atimize wajibu wake na kama kuna yeyote ataonekana  anafanya hujuma atachukuliwa hatua kali," alisema Dkt. Kalemani.

Naibu Waziri pia  alitoa wito kwa wananchi kuvilinda vyanzo vya maji nchini kwa kushirikiana na serikali katika ngazi za vijiji, wilaya na mikoa ili  kuhakikisha kuwa uharibifu wa vyanzo vya maji nchini unafikia tamati.
