Kiongozi wa kundi la waasi la Jaish al-Islam nchini Syria Zahran Alloush ameuawa katika shambulizi la ndege lililodaiwa kufanywa na serikali, likiwa pigo kwa uasi wa karibu miaka mitano na mchakato wa amani unaoyumba.
Alloush mwenye umri wa miaka 44 ndiye aliyekuwa kamanda mkuu wa kundi la Jaish al-Islam, ambalo ndilo kundi la upinzani lenye nguvu zaidi katika ngome ya waasi ya Ghouta Mashariki, iliyopo mashariki mwa mji mkuu wa Syria, Damascus. Masaa kadhaa baada ya kuuawa kwa Alloush, wanachama waandamizi wa Jaish al-Islam walimchagua Abu Himam al-Buwaydani kama mrithi wake, liliarifu Shirika la Uangalizi wa Haki za Binadaamu la Syria lenye makao yake London, Uingereza.
Buwaydini ni mfanyabiashara mwenye umri wa miaka 40 na mpiganaji kutoka mkoa wa Douma, ambaye anatokea katika familia yenye uhusiano wa karibu na kundi la Udugu wa Kiislamu, alisema Mkurugenzi wa shirika hilo la uangalizi wa haki za binaadamu lenye makao yake makuu mjini London.
Alloush na makamanda wengine watano waliuawa katika shambulizi la angani lililoulenga moja ya mikutano yao uliyofanyika Ghouta Mashariki siku ya Ijumaa, lilisema shirika hilo na kuongeza kuwa haikuwa bayana nani alifanya shambulizi hilo kati ya serikali ya Assad na Urusi.
Syria yadai kumuuwa
Mwanachama mwandamizi wa Jaish al-Islam alilithibitishia shirika la habari la AFP juu y akifo cha Alloush, na kusema ndege tatu ziliushambulia mkutano huo wa siri wa makamanda. Serikali ya Syria inalitaja kundi la Jaish al-Islam kama kundi la kigaidi, na televisheni ya serikali ilirejelea matamshi hayo wakati ikitangaza kifo cha Alloush, ikisema jeshi la Syria limeendesha operesheni maalumu iliyomuua Alloush kama sehemu ya "lengo lake la kitaifa."
Chanzo kutoka duru za usalama za Syria kililiambia shirika la AFP kuwa dazeni kadhaa za waasi waliuawa katika mashambulizi yaliyofanywa na vikosi vya serikali ya Syria kwa kutumia makombora mapya yaliyotolewa na Urusi.
Ndege hizo zilifanya mashambulizi mawili dhidi ya mkutano huo, kila mmoja likiwa na makombora manne, kilisema chanzo hicho cha habari. Wanachama wasiopungua 12 wa Jaish ai-Islam pamoja na wengine saba kutoka kundi la Ahrar al-Sham waliuawa.
Kundi la Jaish al-Islam ndiyo lenye nguvu zaidi katika mkoa wa Ghouta Mashariki, ambao ni ngome ya waasi mashariki mwa mji mkuu inayoshambuliwa mara kwa mara na ndege za utawala wa Assad. Likiungwa mkono na Saudi Arabia, kundi hilo lilishiriki hivi karibuni katika mazungumzo ya waasi mjini Riyadhi, yaliyokuwa na lengo la kuyaunganisha makundi hayo kuelekea mazungumzo ya amani na serikali.
Historia yake
Zahran Alloush alizaliwa 1971 mjini Douma, moja ya miji mikubwa zaidi katika mkoa wa Ghouta Mashariki. Baba yake alikuwa mhubiri mashuhuri wa Salafi ambaye kwa sasa anaishi mjini Riyadh. Akifuata katika nyayo za baba yake, Alloush alipata masomo ya dini nchini Syria na Saudi Arabia.
Alloush alikamatwa mwaka 2009 na aliachiliwa Juni 2011 katika msamaha wa jumla, miezi mitatu tu baada ya kuanza kwa uasi wa Waysria dhidi ya utawala wa rais Bashar al-Assad. Alijiunga na uasi na mwaka 2013 aliunganisha makundi kadhaa ya waasi chini ya kundi la Jaish al-Islam.
Kundi hilo lilijipata umaarufu Ghouta Mashariki na limeendeleza upinzani usiyoyumba dhidi ya Assad na kundi la Dola la Kiislamu. Lakini limekosolewa pia kwa ukiukaji wa haki za binaadamu. Mwezi Julai walilaaniwa kwa kuwauwa watu 18 wanaodaiwa kuwa wanachama wa Dola la Kiislamu katika maknda wa video unaoigiza mikanda ya kikatili ya kundi hilo la IS.
Na kwa mujibu wa shirika la uagalizi wa haki za binaadamu la Syria, mwezi Novemba Jaish al-Islam iliwatumia mateka kadhaa kama ngao katika vizimba vya chuma katika jitihada za kuzuwia mashambulizi ya utawala katika mkoa wa Ghouta Mashariki.
Habari za mashambulizi yaliyomuua Alloush zilisambaa haraka miongoni mwa wanaharakati na makundi ya waasi kupitia mtandaoni. "Tunamuomba Mungu amkubali kamanda Zahran Alloush kama shahidi--- na tunaviombea vikundi vya Ghouta viunganye ili kuziba mianya na kukamilisha kazi," aliandika Khalid Khoja, kiongozi wa muungano wa taifa wa upinzani kwenye ukurasa wake wa twita.
Pigo kubwa kwa vuguvugu la waasi
Wachambuzi wanataraji kifo cha Alloush kuwa na athari kubwa kwenye vuguvugu la waasi lililogawanyika na pia mchakato unaoandaliwa wa mazungumzo ya amani. "Kifo chake kinasimama kama moja ya hasara kubwa zaidi kwa upinzani katika uasi huo wa karibu miaka mitano," alisema mchambuzi Charles Lister kwenye ukurasa wake wa twita.
"Katika njia moja, Zahran Alloush amekuwa kiongozi adim mwenye mafanikio katika vuguvugu la waasi wa Syria," alisema Aron Lund, mhariri wa mtandao unaoripoti kuhusu mgogoro waSyria wa Carnegie Endowment. Kutokuwepo kwake kunaweza kuathiri mchakato dhaifu wa mazungumzo ya Syria yanayonuwia kutafuta suluhilo la kisiasa kwa mgogoro huo uliyouwa watu zaidi ya 250,000.
Jaish al-Islam lilikuwa moja ya makundi makuu ya waasi yaliyoalikwa mjini Riyadh kwa mazungumzo mapema mwezi huu. Lilikubaliana juu ya kufanya mazungumzo huko mbeleni na utawala wa Syria, hatua iliyoyakasirisha makundi yenye msimamo mkali kama vile kundi la Al-Nusra Front.
"Mazungumzo hayo yanahitaji ushiriki wa watu wenye msimamo mkali kama Zharan Alloush ili kupata uhalali," alisema Lund. Lakini kifo cha Alloush huenda kikaathiri mchakato wa amani, kwa kulivurga kundi la Jaish al-Islam na pia kulidhoofisha.
