The Full-Sized Toyota Camatte 57s Toy Car Puts Kids in the Driver's Seat

My Son Brian Enjoying His Car

A lot of us can remember how the thought of driving when we were kids seemed so appealing. We simply couldn't wait to get behind the wheel and cruise around the greater Reno, NV area with our friends. Driving was the first step to becoming independent and brought us one step closer to adulthood. With this idea in mind Toyota introduced the Camatte concept at the recent 2013 Tokyo Toy Fair, bringing back a toy model that kids could really drive.

At last year's show Toyota released the original concept, which has since then been redesigned to add some extra style. Known as the Camatte 57s, this car now looks like a blast to drive. It features removable and interchangeable body panels along with controls that can be customized for a child's reach. With so many options for assembly, parents can have a lot of fun with their kids when putting the car together to satisfy their needs.

In total, the newly designed Camatte now features 57 detachable panels. It measures 106 inches in length and is 51 inches wide, with the ability to seat three children. To ensure safety when young drivers are starting out, parents can even hop in for the ride. In terms of the power source, it comes from an electric motor that controls the rear axle. With its sporty style, kids would be thrilled to take this car out for a spin in the backyard.

Although it's predicted that the Camatte 57s will remain a concept model for the time being, we imagine it would be quite the hit if the automaker decided to send it to production. As kids, all of us at Reno Toyota would have certainly loved to have a drivable toy car.
