And you thought Veyron ownership costs ended when you bought the car.
Chances are you’ve never owned a Bugatti Veyron. If you have and/or
still do, first off, congratulations. Second, you’ll totally understand
and relate to the ownership complexities specifically involving maintenance.
In short, life with a Veyron is very expensive and that doesn’t include
regular fill-ups. A regular oil and fluid change will cost around
$20,000. That’s not a typo. Of course Bugatti really wants owners to
have their Veyrons (and Chirons) maintained at Bugatti dealerships where their highly trained technicians will ensure everything is in order.
But here’s the thing: the Bugatti dealer will slap owners with that
hefty bill upon competition of work. If owners don’t go to a certified
technician for work, there’s a chance the warranty and other perks will
be invalidated. It’s sort of a catch-22. However, as you'll see in the
following video, there are Bugatti owners out there with the tools and
knowledge required to handle things on their own.
Las Vegas-based exotic car rental firm Royalty Exotics boasts a
37-car fleet of exotics that includes a Mansory-tuned Veyron. Company
owner Houston Crosta fortunately has the resources and technical talent
in-house to maintain all of his cars, thus allowing money to be saved by
avoiding the dealership. The video shows just how complex and
potentially time consuming it is just to change a Veyron’s oil and
change its fluids. For example, a total of 16 drain plugs need to be
removed to change the oil. The work originally started because of a
hydraulic leak coming from the rear. The engine cover had to be removed
to find the leak. Still want to own a Bugatti? Be sure your bank account
remains healthy.
