Jungle Reef Bluetooth

Jungle Reef Bluetooth
Here we are!
Here’s the story: my life-long friend Sandro comes up with this great wood block and we decided to upgrade it with speakers and Bluetooth, making it awesome!
All the parts are recycled and we resurrected an old stereo that is working just fine.

Step 1: Tools & Materials

Tools & Materials
Materials:
  • 4 speakers, Usually old stereos have good speakers: they might have a couple of big speakers and then a couple of small ones. Please take care of each speaker's impedance - you may find it written in the back of every speaker: it is a number and you can find the Omega symbol.
  • 1 piece of wood, thick and young enough to be drilled, you choose the shape! Remember that it will host your speaker so you need to choose it big enough!
  • 1 KKmoon TDA7492 Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 2 * 50W 2,this is one of the core elements of this project.I will show you later how to wire it up with our speakers.I bought it on Amazon:here.
  • 1 DC power supply, the board needs at least 10 V, but I would recommend to take at least a 12V power supply (the board can handle at most 24V). Remember that to amplify the signal the board needs a good amount of V, so to make it simple: more V more Volume.
  • Common wires,we need some wire to hookup the speakers, in order to plug them in the board.
Tools:
  • Drill and drill bits,· as you can see in the pictures, you will need the round big bits to drill the holes; in the piece of wood, choose the right diameter in order to make the speaker fit well the holes, use the small bits to shape better the holes, in order to follow the shape of each speaker.
  • Solder,·you will need this to hookup in each couple 1 big speaker wired up with 1 little speaker.(How to Solder).
  • Screws, if you use a recycled speaker, you can use the same screws.

Step 2: Modelling the Freaky Wood

Modelling the Freaky Wood
Let's start!
Go out in the woods if you have some nearby, or just out in your garden after a storm, and find the right piece of wood!
Find some speakers - I prefer to recycle but if you really need it you can buy it (speakers).
Take it home
and drill it, and life will sound awesome!
Take care of the dimension of the hole, if you don't have the right drill bits diameter do first a small one hole and then work it around with the other drill bits!

Step 3: Hookup the Speaker

Hookup the Speaker
Now, you have
your speaker and your piece of wood drilled, so we are ready to solder the wire and place the speaker.
I suggest to first measure how much wire you need in order to hookup and place the speaker – in order to do this, cut the wire down already .
Before placing the speaker we have to solder them, since we are putting the speaker from the front of the world [AS1] and solder after placing could be tough .
Let's start soldering the speaker.
Take a couple of speakers, one big and one small, and now solder them in parallel, like I show in the picture.
Remember to check where is the positive and negative pole respective to each speaker.
Choose two different colors of wire, in my case they are Black/White (photo) striped for negative, and White (photo) for the positive.
let's start with the positive pole: strip the wire and solder it!
Do the same thing with the negative pole, (remember to change the color of the wire).
Well, now you have a speaker with a pair of wires soldered to each positive and negative pole.
Take another pair of cables and solder them another time to the two poles:
now you will have 4 cables coming out from the speaker.
Two are going to the board, while the other pair is going to the small speaker.
Take the small speaker -usually it has a capacitor already soldered in parallel, if not solder it like in picture.
If you don't have a capacitor there, no worries - this mean that your speakers do not need it!
So now take the positive and the negative wires coming from the speaker and solder them to the positive and negative pole (remember to respect the color for positive and negative).
Done?
Ok, so now leave for a moment the hooked speakers and take the last couple that you need to hookup and do the same things that we saw before.

Step 4: The Bluetooth Audio Board

The Bluetooth Audio Board
KKmoon TDA7492 Wireless Bluetooth , is a really quite useful!
It comes up with two main input audio channel:
  • Aux, you can use it to connect the board with a standard 3.5mm jack, and play whatever through cable.
  • Bluetooth, This is much more interesting, you can connect your phone using bluetooth,
and play whatever, without any cable. Be careful about the distance, since the bluetooth usually has have a work-range max of 10 meters.
As output channel, where we are going to connect the loose cable of the speakers, there are a couple
of green terminals: Right and Left output for the speakers.
  • Right Terminal, has two pins inside: R+ and R- (if you turn upside down the board you can see the label with R+ and R-). Here we need to put the first two wires of our couple of speakers, please take care be careful of the positive (white in my case) and of the negative (black in my case) cables that we soldered before - put the negative one in the R- and the positive in the R+.
  • Left Terminal, has two pin inside R+ and R- (if you turn upside down the board you can see the label with L+and L-), her we need to put the two wire of our couple of speakers, please take care of the positive (white in my case) and of the negative (black in my case) cable that we sold before, put the negative one in the L- and the positive in the L+.
Between those green pin there is the power supply connectors where you can connect your DC power supply!
