Mtafiti Mkuu wa Jukwaa la Bioteknolojia Tanzania na Mkufunzi wa Mafunzo ya Bioteknolojia , Dk.Emmarold Mneney (kulia), akiwafundisha wanachuo wa Chuo cha Ualimu cha Bunda (BUNDA TTC), kuhusu matumizi ya bioteknolojia na uhandisi jeni Wilaya ya Bunda mkoani Mara leo asubuhi.

JUKWAA la Bioteknolojia Tanzania limetoa mafunzo ya matumizi ya bioteknolojia na Uhandisi Jeni kwa wanachuo cha ualimu Bunda kilichopo mkoani Mara ili kuwa jengea uwezo wa kuielewa teknolojia ya bioteknolojia  kwa ajili ya kusaidia kukabiliana na changamoto za kilimo.


Akizungumza na wanafunzi hao jana Mtafiti Mkuu wa Jukwaa la Bioteknolojia Tanzania kutoka Tume ya Taifa ya Sayansi na Teknolojia (Costech) Dk. Emmalord Mneney alisema kuwa teknolojia hiyo mpya ni muhimu kusambaa nchini ili kumkomboa mkulima.

"Tumeamua kuleta mafunzo haya kwa wanachuo hiki tukiamini kuwa baada ya kuhitimu mafunzo yao watakwenda kuwaelimisha wakulima katika maeneo yao"alisema Dk. Mneney.


Dk.mneney aliongeza kuwa kutokana na kuwepo kwa changamoto ya tabianchi kumesababisha ukame na uharibifu wa mazingira ambayo yameathiri shughuli za kilimo hasa mazao.


Alisema kuwa kutokana na hali hiyo serikali imekuwa ikiiwezesha Tume ya Taifa ya Sayansi na Teknolojia (Costech) kwa ajili ya kuwaongezea uwezo wa kufanya tafiti za kilimo nchini.


Dk.Mneney alisema kuwa changamoto kubwa ya wakulima ni kukosa mbegu bora za mazao ya pamba na mahindi hali iliyosababisha wakulima wengi kukata tamaa ya kilimo hicho na kuamua kulima mazao mengine.


"Kutokana na changamoto hiyo Costech imekuwa ikifanya utafiti ndani ya maabara ya kisasa iliyopo Mikocheni jijini Dar es Salaam ili kupata mbegu bora ambazo zikionekana kuwa zinafaa zitasambazwa katika mashamaba makubwa na nchi nzima kwa ujumla" alisema Dk.Mneney.



Mwanachuo hicho Mahana Mahana alisema mkoa wa Mara unachangamoto kubwa ya kilimo kutokana na ardhi kuchoka hivyo ni wakati wa watafiti kuliangalia hilo ili kuwasaidia wakulima kupata mbegu bora zitakazo waletea mafanikio ya kilimo ya kupata mazao mengi.
