Wakazi wa jiji la Dar es Salaam na vitongoji vyake kesho  wanatapa fursa ya kulitumia kwa mara ya kwanza Daraja la Kigamboni linalotarijiwa kufunguliwa rasmi na Rais John Pombe Magufuli siku ya Jumanne ya wiki ijayo ili ‘kuonja’ na kujionea ubora wa daraja hilo kisasa.

Akizungumza  jijini Dar es Salaam jana, Meneja mradi kutoka kampuni ya China Railway Construction Engineering Group ambao wametekeleza mradi huo kwa ushirikiano na kampuni ya China Railway Major Bridge Group Bw.Zhang Bangxu,  alisema  siku ya kesho, wataruhusu wakazi hao na magari kupita katika daraja hilo lililogarimu Dola za Kimarekani milioni 135 kujengwa.

“Kama wajenzi kesho tutaruhusu magari kupita kwenda upande wa Kurasini na upande wa Kigamboni siku ya Jumamosi tu kama ikiwa ni sehemu ya majaribio yetu kitaalamu ikiwa ni pamoja na kutumia fursa hiyo kufanya majaribio ya mitambo na mashine zote ambazo zitatumika katika kufanya tozo mbali mbali baada ya kuanza rasmi kwa mradi," alifafanua.

Kwa mujibu wa Bw. Bangxu, daraja la Kigamboni ndiyo daraja refu kuliko yote katika ukanda wa Afrika Mashariki lililotengenezwa kwa kutumia teknolojia ya matumizi ya kamba (cable) kubeba uzito wa daraja, ambayo itaunganisha jiji la kibiashara la Dar es Salaam na eneo la Kigamboni na Kurasini. Ujenzi ulianza mnamo Tarehe moja Februari mwaka 2012.

“Pamoja na kujengwa katika ubora wa hali ya juu, daraja hili lina jumla ya njia sita yaani njia tatu kwa kila upande, pamoja na njia mahususi kwa ajili ya waenda kwa miguu na waendesha baiskeli ambayo ina upana wa mita 2 na nusu (2.5 meters) katika kila pande. Daraja hilo litaruhusu magari yenye uzito usiozidi tani 30 kupita.,’’ aliongeza

 Bw. Bangxu alisema kwamba kaskazini mwa daraja hilo, litaungana na barabara lenye urefu wa kilometa  moja ambayo inakatiza reli ya TAZARA kisha kuungana na barabara ya Mandela. Kwa upande wa Kigamboni, daraja litaungana na barabara lenye urefu wa Kilometa 1.5 ambayo inaungana na barabara ya Kigamboni Ferry - Kibada.

Aliongeza kwamba kukamilika kwa daraja hili ni ya maendeleo kwani inatarajiwa kuchochea kasi ya maendeleo ya mji wa kisasa wa Kigamboni (Kigambani satellite city), kutengeneza fursa za ajira katika sekta ya ujenzi wa maeneo ya makazi pamoja na sekta za huduma ambazo  zitastahimili ongezeko kubwa wa idadi ya wakazi wapya katika mji huo mpya.

Kukamilika kwa daraja hilo kunatajwa kuwa kutawapafusra wakazi wa Kigamboni na viunga vyake ikiwa ni kutoa njia mbadala ya kufikia makazi yao, biashara zao au shuguli zao za ujenzi wa taifa kwa njia ya barabara.

Maeneo ya Kigamboni na Kurasini kwa sasa hufikika kwa kutumia vivuko viwili vya MV Magogoni na MV Kigamboni ambazo kwa pamoja zinaumezo wa kubebe abiria 1000 na magari 78 kwa kila safari.

Mradi huo umedhaminiwa kwa kwa ubia kati ya Shirika la Hifadhi ya Jamii ya Taifa (NSSF) na Serikali ya Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania.
